But if the cancellation is done within 24 hr of the departure, he would have to pay $75.

How to Cancel?

You can cancel tickets through various means. Be it online, in person, or over the phone. The cost of flight ticket cancellation entirely depends on the type of ticket, and time and place of purchase.

  • Cancellation in Person

This cancellation requires travelers to follow certain steps:

Step1:  You need to visit the nearest airport and stand in the long waiting line at the Airline Ticket Counter.

Step 2: Consult the customer service agent and discuss your cancelation of the reservation or your airline ticket deal.

Step 3: Provide all the required information for the cancellation, like your identification and reservation details. Ask them for a refund in case of a penalty.

  • Cancellation by Phone

Step 1: You need to call the desk line according to the country you are living in. The services provided will be according to your location, with respect to your residing country.

Step 2: You will be asked whether you are a SkyMiles member, to which you need to reply to ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.

Step 3: You need to key in the numbers and choose the option that takes you into conversation with the customer service executive. Also, until you connect to the representative remain on the line.

Step 4: Talk to the representative and inform them about your intentions for cancellation.

Step 5: Give them all the necessary information that they require, and ask them for a refund if possible.

  • Cancelling Online

Step 1: Visit the respective website and click on the travel information option on the top of the page. Click the ‘Itineraries and Check-in’ option for accessing your airline ticket information.

Step 2: You will have to enter the first and the last name in the respective columns and then click on the Go button to visit the reservation page.

Step 3: Then you will have to select the option for the cancellation of the ticket. Also, you can ask for the refund of the tickets during this process.

Canceling the Award Flights

Within 24 to 48 hrs Award flights are up for a full refund. Also, up to 72 hrs before the departure of the flight, you can make changes in the cancelation of an award ticket.

Step 1: The user has to login to the SkyMiles account.

Step 2: You just need to enter the name and the confirmation number and select the respective cancellation option.

Notification of Delayed or Cancelled Flight

The airline provides full information about the delay or the cancellation of the flight to the passenger within 30 minutes. Also, announcements will be made on the boarding gate area and also the same will be conveyed through messages or email.

Cancellation by Airlines

In case, Delta Airlines cancel the flight, a Delta Compensation Voucher is available to the passengers. Only if the delay is between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Also, in case your flight diverts to an alternative airport, customers can avail of ground transportation to the destination airport.

Even if the fare is not refundable you may get the refund on the unused portion of your flight ticket in the following circumstances:

  • If your flight schedule changes by more than 90 minutes.

Cancellation by Traveler

You can cancel on behalf of the passenger until midnight; 1 day after the reservation. And in case the reservation was on the date of travel, make the cancellation and refund until midnight.

  • The refund will be processed within 7 working days after the request has been registered.
  • And, in case the purchase was in cash or through a check, the refund will take 20 working days.

Delta Airline Ticket Refund

  • Did you purchase the e-ticket from the airport ticket counter? Then, you will have to email the receipt number for the refund.
