Kailash Mansarovar Yatra: A Sacred Journey

To attain complete salvation, The Hindu devotees say, “All the pilgrimage of Hinduism be on one side & Kailash-Mansarovar yatra on the other” Considered as one of the most sacred spots on earth, Kailash Parbat is where Lord Shiva with his wife Parvati did remain poised for 1000 years of reverence and devoutness to attain completeness and use it to prosper every living soul.

Though different religions including Buddhism affirm the whole mountain range is the essence of their gods.

People in India, consider this land the “Home of Lord Shiva.” So get your plane tickets to India ready.

1. The Yatra

The first thing, a devotee must keep in mind is the sacred purpose of this journey. The yatra is famous for two things. These are doing a parikrama of Mount Kailash and taking a holy dunk in the Mansarovar Lake.

It’s believed that any devotee, who completes this yatra, without a hint of the doubt for his utter faith in God would get his sins cleaned and bring complete escape from himself to know its true self. It is worth getting cheap airfare tickets to India.

As the yatra goes across international borders, traveling through Tibet and even crossing lines of China. So, it becomes tedious for one to book a seat.

One has to take permission from the ministry of external affairs or can consult any private authorized tourism agency within Nepal/Tibet.

The Medical can take up to 2 days and so the whole journey may extend from 10 to 30 days. Devotees from 18 to 70 years only can travel.

There are 3 ways to do the journey: Aerial Route, Journey on 4500cc land cruiser, Journey on deluxe buses or if you have ample time and have the enthusiasm, devotion & determination, going on foot is the best option.

The indefinable feeling of crossing the steep curves & glaciers on the mountains with waterfalls and small tributaries flowing all along the journey keep the devotees fresh and curious.

2. Itinerary

Using the term “beautiful” is not enough to define the trek of Himalayas & Kailash Parbat. Book a Holiday package to India and watch it yourself.

Right in the lap of Mother Nature, Pilgrims spend nights in huts & tents with all basic needs but the sleep they get with the holy air flowing through their bodies and stars twinkling clearest of skies take this journey to next level.

Depending upon your time and pocket, One can opt for a 13-day jeep safari package, a 14-day yatra by an AC coach or an 11-day voyage via helicopter.

The parikrama will also be a part of this yatra. Starting the sacred voyage from Nepal (Kathmandu), pilgrims pass through Kodari, Nyalam.

It is where immigration formalities are to be completed to go to China. Other checkpoints are Dongba, Lake Mansarovar, Darchen, Yama Dwar.

3. The Parikrama

Reaching the holy Mount Kailash, pilgrims circum-step the peak of the mountain like a divine centripetal force is tempting them to do so, which is also known as parikrama.

It’s a big ask on foot for devotees especially after a tiring 13-14 day journey, which usually takes 2 to 3 days but you can also hire a yak or pony to complete the journey. Finally, return home on the cheapest airfare.

4. Mythological importance

It’s mainly the Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bon that consider Mount Kailash as a sacred place, all due to different reasons but with the same undeniable belief.

Where Hindus know this land due to Lord Shiva, Buddhists think it’s the place where the powers of Lord Buddha become supreme. Bon (Oldest spiritual religion of Tibet) people say the ambiance of God blesses the whole land.

5. Lake Mansarovar

Lake Mansarovar is the highest freshwater lake (4500 meters) lies at foot of the sacred Mount Kailash in Tibet. The yatra is incomplete unless you take a dip in this lake.

The moonlight flourishes the beauty of this lake beyond imagination. The color of the lake changes from blue to emerald green while going from shore to the center. Book tickets to India and experience the magic.

6. More Places to Visit
