According to a recent announcement presented by the White House, completely vaccinated Indians can now travel to the USA as the country has opened up for travel of foreign nationals who have taken both doses.

As a White House official added, this will be the beginning to ending the sudden restrictions that had to be imposed in the early months of last year. Also, the austere and reliable policy is guided by public health.

Below are the latest developments of the policy, which are advised to be noted by Indian passengers traveling by the US to India flights and vice versa.

1. The policy was already announced in early September, and officials of the White House mentioned that the country would be lifting restrictions on air travelers from 33 different countries in the initial week of November.

2. Completely vaccinated foreign India to USA flights air passengers will be admitted in the USA from November 8th, 2021 from the 26 Schengen countries in Europe. They include Spain, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, and Greece, in addition to India, China, Britain, Brazil, South Africa, and Iran.

3. Logistical and technical details of the new policy are not yet announced fully.

4. All vaccines authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are accepted for entry by air, by the US health authorities. Currently, the list of approved vaccines is Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Sinovac.

5. Passengers traveling by plane are considered vaccinated by the US on the basis of 2 conditions- they have received vaccine doses approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), or have received an Emergency Use Listing from the World Health Organization (WHO).

6. Usually, unvaccinated foreigners are not allowed to enter the US and unvaccinated Americans need a negative COVID19 test result.

7. The policy is set to give massive relief to the Indian travelers who are stuck in the US for the last one and a half years due to various problems. With this new turn of events, passengers can now travel on last-minute flights to India and return when it is comfortable for them.

8. Before boarding a flight, Indian passengers need to show proof of both vaccination and a recent negative COVID19 test. Foreign visitors who are simply crossing a land border do not need to produce a recent negative COVID19 test.

9. The vaccination-based move is in accordance with the European Council, working to bring the US into the line as the UK had already adapted to it a few weeks ago.

10. The day of November 8th, 2021 is also significant for the US opening its land borders to Mexico and Canada, as announced earlier in the week.
