Air Panama Fleet, Operations & Baggage Policies

Air Panama is a regional airline which is the second largest airline in the Panama. It is based at the renowned airport of  Panama- Albrook Marcos A. Gelbert International Airport. It was founded in 1980 as Parsa but later in 2005 it’s name got changed to Air Panama. This airline flies to over 31 destinations.

Air Panama has an alliance with the Honduras Tourism Board which will allow Costa Ricans to fly from San Jose to Roatan with just 1 lay-over.

Air Panama Baggage:

Domestic flights:Passengers are allowed to carry 14 Kg with themselves on flights to the territories within Panama. But, if the route is David Route then, flyers are permitted to carry 30kg.

Expensive items, fragile items or electronic devices such as computers, phones, cameras, camcorders, etc must be included in carry-on luggage.

If you are traveling with international flights, travelers are permitted to carry two bags with a combined weight of 30kg and in any case weight should not exceed, if it does then extra fee would be charged. People flying with the “E light” tariff are only entitled with hand luggage. Carry-on luggage on international flight should not exceed 8kg.

Air Panama Fleet

The fleet of Air Panama is changing with time for better. Although it consists the major aircrafts such as Britten-Norman Islander, Cessna 182, Cessna 208 Caravan, Fokker 50, Piper PA-34 Seneca and Fokker 100. In the year 2017, the airline was able to acquire an Airbus A330-200 also. Lately, the airline is working on expanding its tourism destinations covering the European countries. It is to incorporate a wide-body air carrier for this purpose.

Flights to the San Blas Archipelago with Air Panama

Air Panama being the only carrier flying to the astonishing islands of San Blas. The airline travels to destinations in the territory of Guna Yala on the airports of Achutupo (ACU), Playón Chico (PYC), El Porvenir (PVE), Corazon de Jesus (CZJ), Malatupo (MPP), and Puerto Obaldía (PUE).

Maximum number of flying is carried with a small domestic aircraft that can only accommodate for about which can carry just 20 passengers.

If you wish to visit such place then ensure that the booking is made in advance. Also, the flights dates might be a bit irregular because of their less famous routes. You will reach the heavenly islands of San Blas in just couple of hours.
