AirAsia India: Baggage Policy, Checked Baggage, and Check-In Policy

AirAsia India is the first foreign airline that has established its subsidiaries in India and has its headquarters in Bangalore. The airline was founded on 28 March, 2013. Being a low cost carrier of India, the airline commenced its operation on 12 June, 2014. The airline has fleet size of 20.

Carry-on Baggage

All guests (excluding infants) are permitted to carry on board two pieces of cabin baggage that consist of either:

One Cabin Baggage:

  • Should not have dimensions more than 56cm X 36cm X 23cm.
  • Can be fit easily in the storage compartment in the aircraft cabin.

One Laptop bag/one handbag/one small bag:

  • Should not have dimensions more than 40cm X 30cm X 10cm.
  • Should fit at front side of the seat.

The total weight of both the baggage pieces should not be more than 7kg. 

Checked Baggage

If a traveler wants to carry more, the airline has several ranges of checked baggage allowances that one can pre-book. Checked baggage fees would apply accordingly.

If a traveler is flying to or from the United States, checked baggage is available to pre-book by number of pieces:

  • 1 piece carries maximum weight of 20kg
  • 2 pieces have maximum weight of 20kg each

If a traveler has bought Value Pack or is flying on Premium Flex or Premium Flatbed, a checked baggage allowance would be involved in the fare.

It is a service that permits the travelers to check in with the help of various methods and to avoid long queues at the airport.

A traveler can check in online from the airline website, AirAsia.com in order to print the boarding pass.

AirAsia Mobile App

A traveler can also Check-in through the AirAsia mobile app in order to receive a barcode which he/she can use to reprint the boarding pass at the airport.

Airport check-in kiosks

Check-in kiosks are situated at most airports in Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and India. Travelers can also print their boarding passes and bag tags at the kiosks.

Make sure to have 6-character booking number ready before following the process of self check-in. Booking number can be found on the travel itinerary.
